Jared William Pankow was a vibrant young man with a charismatic personality and a heart of gold. He had an easy sense of humor and a beautiful smile that could light up any room.
Jared’s passion for farming was sparked at an early age as he rode in the combine with his mother, Jenny. This love of the land continued into adulthood as he not only farmed with his dad, but he also enjoyed helping his friends and neighbors.
Jared was deeply inquisitive and enjoyed understanding the world around him. As such, he found great joy in watching historical movies and documentaries. He also enjoyed music and had a wonderful singing voice—a strong contender for any car karaoke competition.
Jared adored his niece and nephews dearly. He was extremely proud to be their uncle. Though he was often consumed by the demands of life and did not spend as much time with them as he would have liked, they can hold tight to the memories they were able to share together.
Jared also shared many memories with the love of his life, Kally, and her three children Shayli, Broc and Kyli. He welcomed the children as his own, and he and Kally enjoyed watching many sunrises and sunsets together.
Jared also loved to tinker with and fix things. He especially loved collecting and fixing clocks—trying to capture “time”. Time is something that Jared couldn’t capture in the end; his time here on earth was interrupted by the devastating disease of addiction—the great “time” stealer. While we are heartbroken by his passing, we take comfort knowing he is at peace and free from the relentless grip of his illness.
We choose to remember Jared not by the struggles of this past year, but by the warmth, laughter and love he brought us. We remember his kindness, his generosity, his sense of humor and his easy smile. These are the things that define Jared and his legacy. We are comforted knowing he is reunited with his mother, Jennifer, and that he has found peace.
Jared is survived by his father, August Pankow III; his sisters Lindsey (Joe) Krump and Allison Pankow; his nephews Chet and Leo Krump; his niece Phylain Krump; his grandmother Joan Wiese; his uncles Jeffry (Joan) Pankow, Tom Mauer, and Jerome (Linda) Mauer; his aunts Olive Pankow (Tom Bertlesen) and Jennifer (Daniel) Klostreich; many cousins; and life partner Kally “Kal” Wieser and her three children, Shayli, Broc and Kyli.
Jared is preceded in death by his mother, Jennifer Pankow; his grandparents Jerome and Delores Mauer; and his grandfather August Pankow Jr.
A special Thank You to HIA Hospice of Fargo for their compassionate and attentive care not only for Jared, but also for his family and friends as well.
