Janis Cuperus

Janis Cuperus, 79, Dumont, MN, died Friday, May 27, 2011, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.
Funeral services were Thursday, June 2, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton, MN, with Rev. Charles Horkey officiating. Music was provided by organist Theresa Thiel.
Visitation was Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton.
Janis Colleen, daughter of Leonard and Alvina (Miller) Voehl, was born on August 26, 1931, in Lakefield, MN. She graduated from Lakeview High School in 1949. After graduation, Janis worked as a legal secretary in the Lakefield area.
In 1953, Janis married Burnerd Cuperus. Janis and Burnerd moved to the Dumont area in 1956 and began to farm. They lived on the farm from 1956 to the present day. J
Janis was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Parnell Township and later a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Dumont. She enjoyed playing organ for both churches. She was currently a member of St. John Lutheran in Wheaton. Janis enjoyed cooking, gardening and flowers, especially irises.
Janis is survived by her husband, Burnerd of Dumont; two sons, Steven (Susann) Cuperus of Bismarck, ND, and Alan (Becky) Cuperus of Phoenix, AZ; one daughter, Lorie Cuperus of Brookings, SD; two grandchildren, James and Ashley Cuperus of Phoenix, AZ; and one brother, Loren Voehl of Duluth, MN.
Janis was preceded in death by one grandchild, Theresa Elizabeth.
