Janet Leclair

Janet A. LeClair, 78, Browns Valley, MN, passed away Friday, February 19, 2016, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 27, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Browns Valley with Rev. Anna Williamson officiating. Music will be provided by organist Ginny Westbrock and vocalists Marcy LeClair and the Browns Valley Community Choir. Honorary urn bearers will be Patricia LeClair, Zinda Vosberg, Rusty Arbach, JoAnn Nigg, Ginger Kuschel and the late Gretchen Gettman.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. The Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt, SD, is in charge of the arrangements.

Janet Ann (Schiefelbein) LeClair was born on October 7, 1937, in Graceville, MN, to Al and Orilla (Bury) Schiefelbein. She grew up in Browns Valley in the "Best Neighborhood" in town. She graduated from Browns Valley High School in 1955 and was a cheerleader for six years through junior and senior high. Janet attended business school in Fargo and worked as the Browns Valley High School secretary from 1958 to 1959.

Janet married Jim LeClair of Browns Valley, on January 3, 1959, and they had three children. She was the bookkeeper for Valley Soft Water, the family business, until her death.

Janet was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Presbyterian Church, was a church organist for over 50 years and loved singing in the Browns Valley Community Choir. She was a member of the Browns Valley Alumni Association and had served on the church parish council and the library board.

Janet was a wonderful cook, and she loved to read, bake, tend to her flowers and watch birds on the many feeders in her backyard. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Janet passed away after an illness on Friday, February 19, 2016, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include three children, Mark (Valerie) LeClair of Barnesville, MN, Lynn (Dwayne) Peltier of Houma, LA, and Chad (Marcy) LeClair of Browns Valley; three grandchildren, Rachel (Chuck) Schmitz, Danielle (Michael) Holland and Derek LeClair; four great-grandchildren, Dylan, Jaycob, Cody and Michael; a sister, Shirley Holland of West Fargo, ND; four sisters-in-law, Vera Schiefelbein of Pierre, SD, Patricia LeClair, Marlys (Harry) Ziemer and Sandra Birchem, all of Browns Valley; and one brother-in-law, Vernell (Junice) LeClair of Browns Valley. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Al and Orilla; her husband, Jim; one brother, Perry Schiefelbein; one sister, Joan Schiefelbein; four brothers-in-law, Mike Holland, Dwain LeClair, Francis Jr. "Fritz" LeClair and Raymond Birchem; and one sister-in-law, Ardyce LeClair.
