Janet Griepp

Janet Griepp, 72, rural Sisseton, SD, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014, at her residence.

Funeral services were Wednesday, April 30, at 11:00 a.m. at the Family Life Assembly of God Church in Sisseton with Rev. Vernal Donnell and Rev. Robert Beasley officiating. Music was provided by Gloria Slaamot and vocalists Jenna Richards and Janet's great-grandchildren.

Burial was in the Sisseton Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Peterson, Matthew Peterson, Harry Moshier and Janet's former coworkers, friends and family. Active pallbearers were Charles Richards, Matthew Lutjens, Geoffrey Smith, Jeffrey Smith, Gus Lutjens and Steven Richards.

There was a prayer service Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the church.

Janet Yvonne was born December 18, 1941, in Sisseton, to Oliver K. and Violet (Dahlin) Tasa. She attended school in Sisseton, graduating from Sisseton High School in 1959. Janet then attended the National College of Business in Rapid City.

On October 22, 1960, Janet married Charles Griepp at the Assembly of God Church in Sisseton. Janet was employed with Roberts County for over 18 years. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Highway Department and then worked several years in the auditor's office. She later worked as a bookkeeper for Larry Lundstrom Ministries and Kare Lines Ambulance.

Janet was a member of Family Life Assembly of God church and served as a Sunday school teacher for 30 years. She also sang on the worship team for several years.

Janet enjoyed crocheting, baking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Charles of Sisseton; five children, Jodi (Gus) Lutjens of Sisseton, Bradley (Diane) Griepp of Watertown, Kristi (Steven) Richards of Sisseton, Ritchy (Dawn) Griepp of Humboldt, SD, and Robyn (Jeffrey) Smith of Sisseton; grandchildren, Heidi (Jeremy) Slaamot, Jaime (Josh) Donnell, Matthew (Brianna) Lutjens, Meranda (Mark) Shindelbower, Stephanie Richards (Myron Doud), Jenna Richards, Charles Richards (Cassandra Bartunek), Rebekah Griepp, Shelby Smith and Geoffrey Smith; great-grandchildren, Cole Slaamot, KateLynn Slaamot, Charley Marie Richards, Christian Shepherd, Ava Donnell, Jessa Richards, Joshua Donnell, Haedyn Shindelbower, Nevaeh Doud, Trajin Shindelbower, Luke Donnell, Maya Doud, Xavier Shindelbower, and Hannah Lutjens; brother, Richard (Arvy) Tasa of Denver, CO; and sister, Cheryl Ingham of Washington, IL.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Violet; and her grandson, Kenneth Charles Lutjens.
