Jane Adele was born July 18, 1930, at Wahpeton, ND, to Lloyd and Sadie (Gordinier) Waddington. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Rosholt. She grew up and attended school in Rosholt and graduated from Rosholt High School in 1948. After graduation she furthered her education at the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton.
On November 25, 1951, Jane married Darwin Hanson at the United Methodist Church in Rosholt. They lived in 29 Palms, CA, from 1951 to 1954 while Darwin was stationed in the US Marine Corps. After he was discharged, they moved to Lidgerwood, ND, where Darwin was employed at the bank. In 1956 they moved to Rosholt where Darwin was employed at the Rosholt Community Bank for 16 years.
Jane and Darwin moved frequently in later years, farming both in Rosholt and in Lake Preston, SD. They owned and operated a car wash/laundromat in Watertown, SD. After selling this business, they moved back to Rosholt. Jane was a cook at the Rosholt Care Center, Sisseton Golf Course, and for a summer she and Darwin ran the Rosholt Drive-In. They also partnered on many entrepreneurial ventures over the years. Darwin passed away August 19, 2004. In April 2019, Jane moved to the Countryside Inn Assisted Living in Rosholt.
Jane loved to watch the Minnesota Twins and Timberwolves games on TV with Darwin, and after he passed away, she continued to watch. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and games, doing word search puzzles, gardening, and thrift store shopping with her daughter. She especially enjoyed visits from her children and grandchildren, and of course she loved the many pets her children brought home over the years.
Survivors include four children, Scott (Debbie) Hanson of Casper, WY, Lauri Hanson of Rosholt, Bryan (Angel Francis) Hanson of Rosholt, and Cheryl Hanson of Rosholt; two grandchildren, Travis (Caitlin) Hanson of Los Angeles, CA, and Cody (Candace) Hanson of Castle Rock, CO; and four great-grandchildren, Carter, Camden, Abigail, and Lucas.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darwin; and one grandchild, Scotty Matthew.
