James "Jim" Sando

James R. "Jim" Sando, 72, Plymouth, MN, died Sunday, May 11, 2014, at the Mission Nursing Home in Plymouth.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at Bethania Lutheran Church in Rosholt, SD, with Rev. Nancy Quatier officiating. Music will be provided by organist Lana Sand.

Burial will be in the Bethania Cemetery, Rosholt. Honorary urn bearers will be James' nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

James Robert Sando was born December 19, 1941, in Veblen, SD, to Ed and Elvira (Peterson) Sando. He was baptized at the hospital, and confirmed at Bethania Lutheran Church. Jim attended school in Rosholt, graduating from Rosholt High School in 1960. He then drove truck for Herb Heesch.

On July 5, 1969, Jim married Sharlene Nelson at Bethania Lutheran Church in Rosholt. After their marriage, they moved to Minneapolis where he worked for Hobard Manufacturing, a tool and die company. In 1991, Jim had back surgery and was no longer able to work. He later moved to a nursing home in Minneapolis.

Jim enjoyed helping his neighbors and he loved his cats.

Survivors include his sisters, Norma Bergstrom of Eagle Bend, MN, and Lois (Donald) Rau of Kensington, MN; brother-in-law, Earl Medhaug, of Sisseton, SD; and several nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wally Sando; and a sister, Gloria Medhaug.
