James Edward was born July 10, 1946, to Arnold and Dorraine (Otto) Bucklin in Sisseton. With his dad being in the Service, Jim attended various schools in the South Dakota area. Jim worked on some farms in the Claire City area during his teens and lived with his grandmother Anna Otto. He cherished that time of his life and spoke of it often.
In 1967, Jim married Donna Tosse and resided in Bloomington, MN. He worked for Target Incorporated Bakery. During this time, he had his first-born son, James Jr. In 1971, they moved to Wheaton and bought a bakery. During this time, his second son, Christopher James, was born. In 1983, Jim moved his family to Sisseton where he then opened another family bakery. Jim not only enjoyed baking but was also very good at it. When he later retired, he continued baking for the new owners.
On June 1, 2001, Jim married Bonnie Ceroll. Together they lived on Lake Traverse with their two puppies which were like kids to Jim. They continued to run the bakery and at one time ran limo services.
They enjoyed the outdoors, boating, fishing, and taking walks to the county park almost every night. They especially enjoyed camping and went on many camping trips. With South Dakota winters and not getting any younger, they decided to move into Browns Valley. He will be truly missed.
Jim is survived by his wife, Bonnie; son, James Bucklin, Jr.; grandkids, Christian Barse, Maria Heminger, and Corey Bucklin; great-grandkids, Jaron, Isaac, Bailyn, Addison, Tyray, Corey Jr., Jacob, and Liam; stepchildren, Lori (Rick Leone) Ceroll-Runstrom, Kathie (Troy Bendt) Ceroll, and Jeremy Ceroll; ten step-grandchildren; brother, Gary (Corliss) Bucklin and Robert (Alice) Bucklin; and sister, Sandra (Roger) Ficker.
Jim was preceded in death by his son, Chris; parents, Arnold and Dorraine Bucklin; and his stepdaughter, Julie Ceroll.
