Irvin Smith

Irvin K. Smith, 90, Browns Valley, MN, passed away January 4, 2023, at the Browns Valley Health Center in Browns Valley.

Visitation will be Monday, January 9, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt, SD.

Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery, Browns Valley, at a later date.

Irvin Kenneth was born May 9, 1932, to Roy and Devona (Kenyon) Smith in Beardsley, MN.  He graduated from Beardsley High School in 1951.

Following high school, Irvin continued to farm and had a construction business.  He was united in marriage to Darlene Engel, Browns Valley, MN. To this union six children were born.

Irvin enjoyed hunting and watching baseball and boxing.  Irvin and Darlene together enjoyed listening to old time music and would travel to Peever to enjoy the local entertainment.  Darlene passed away July 27, 2021. Irvin's grandchildren provided him with many hours of pleasure, especially during the holidays.  During his time at the Browns Valley Health Center, Irvin enjoyed playing cards and bingo.

Survivors include his children, Debby Thomas (Larry), of Moorhead, MN, Sharon (Joe) Brockhaus of Rosholt, SD, Cindy Ward of Browns Valley, Kenneth Smith (friend Tamie) of Browns Valley, Jeffrey Smith of Browns Valley, and Michael (Karen) Smith of Milbank, SD.  He is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Jessica, Jason, Danielle, and Lindsey Thomas, Ana and Lucas Brockhaus, Chad, Charla, Cody, and Cole Ward, and Elizabeth and Jasmine Smith; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Leonard Smith of Gillette, WY.

Irvin was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; parents, Roy and Devona Smith; brothers, Frank, Roy Jr., and Erland Smith; sister, Marion Issendorf; and grandson, Devon Smith.
