Irene M. Dalberg

Irene M. Dalberg, age 93, Claire City, SD, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019, at the Tekakwitha Living Center in Sisseton, SD.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 20, at 12:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt with Rev. Patrick Jenkins officiating. Music will be provided by organist Lana Sand.

Burial will be at a later date in the Sisseton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terry Peterson, Tracy Peterson, Wade Peterson, Belinda Dalberg, Spencer Peterson, and Tanner Peterson.

Visitation will be Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Irene Marion was born July 23, 1925, to Joseph and Mathilda (Podliska) Hrncir in rural Claire City. She attended rural grade school and graduated from Claire City High School.

On June 23, 1944, Irene married Clifford Dalberg in Sisseton. They farmed near Claire City until retiring to Rosholt in 1999. Clifford passed away in 2012. Irene lived alone until May 2018 when she entered Tekakwitha Living Center in Sisseton.   She enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards, and putting puzzles together. Irene loved to visit with family and friends and especially loved to help other people.

Irene is survived by two children, Carol (Allen) Peterson of Sisseton and Carl Dalberg of Sisseton; sister, Florence Klobuchar of Minneapolis; brothers, Gene (Joy) Hrncir of Watertown, SD, and Leonard (Martha) Hrncir of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Terry, Wade, and Tracy (Sheli) Peterson, and Belinda (Carl Ege) Dalberg; great-grandchildren, Brenna, Spencer, and Tanner Peterson, and Canyon and Stone Ege; and many special nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; parents; brothers, Robert (Alice), Joe, Vernon, Ernest (Judy), and Kenneth; sister, Mary Ann (Clayton) Hedin; and brother-in-law, Bill Klobuchar.
