Harley Neil Mundy, 81, Browns Valley, MN, passed away peacefully July 31, 2012, surrounded by family at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.
Funeral services were Friday, August 3, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Browns Valley with Father David Breu officiating. Music was provided by organist Norma Jung.
Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, Browns Valley. Military honors were provided by the William Krensing American Legion Post 58 of Browns Valley.  Pallbearers were Galen Roark, Curt Roark, Bob Appel, Bob Goodhart, Alan Duffield and Larry Mayer.
Visitation was Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Harley was born August 15, 1930, to Phillip and Elsa (Klemm) Mundy in Browns Valley, MN. He was baptized into the Lutheran Church and was later confirmed.
Harley grew up in Browns Valley where he attended school. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in December of 1947, retiring from service in September of 1968. Harley earned a Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal, and several other awards while serving his country. After his 21 years of service, Harley worked various jobs at the City of Browns Valley, Ewald's and Reed's Fish Companies, and several gravel trucking jobs including the construction of the Big Stone Power Plant.
On August 10, 1970, Harley married Marian (Pitzl) McLane. Harley and Marian made their home along Lake Traverse for many years. Recently, Harley purchased a house in town, where he currently resided.
Harley was a member of the Browns Valley American Legion. He enjoyed spending time outside gardening, fishing, and tinkering with anything he could find. An important part of his day began with his morning coffee at BJ's with Tami, Becky, and the crew. He loved to tell stories and jokes to make people laugh. Grandkids, country music, campfires, and watching his animals roam were Harley's great passions.
He is survived by daughters, Leanne Vosberg (Robert Batilla) of Sioux Falls, SD, Monica German (Greg Pahl) of New Hope, MN; son, Steven Mundy of Fargo, ND; stepchildren, Marilyn McLane of Annandale, MN, Michael McLane of Sandstone, MN, Margery McLane of St.Cloud, MN, Melanie McLane (Rey Torres) of Devils Lake, ND, and Mitchell (Missy) McLane of Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Mundy of Killeen, TX, one sister, Lois Eastman of Wilmot, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, five sisters and two brothers.
