Geraldine E. Meyen, 88, Browns Valley, MN, died Monday, August 26, 2019, at the Browns Valley Health Center.
There will be a private family burial at Calvary Cemetery in Browns Valley.
Geraldine Elizabeth was born June 15, 1931, to Anton and Antonette (Kutchera) Grengs in Granite Falls, MN. She attended school in Canby, graduating from Canby High School.
On September 9, 1948, Geri married Johann Marvin Meyen at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Canby, MN. After their marriage, they lived in Canby, Milbank, and Browns Valley. Geri enjoyed being a housewife and raising her family. She later worked at Dakotah Quilting in Sisseton, retiring in 1992. Johnny passed away on Nov 2, 1998.
Geri was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Browns Valley and the Christian Mothers. She also belonged to the Town and Country Club and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Geri enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing and made many baby quilts and blankets as well as full-size quilts. She was a talented artist and painted many sawblades for family and friends. Playing cards and board games were also favorite pastimes. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and all of her pets.
Survivors include her children, Jean and Jerry Metz of Browns Valley, Joan and Dan Spindler of Winterhaven, FL, and John and Lisa Meyen of Rosholt; grandchildren, Cary and Nicole Metz, Kelly and Missy Metz, Carmen and Jason Hanson, Kasey and Carissa Metz, Chad and Amber Metz, Angela and Matt Harlin, Brian and Christy Spindler, Katie Meyen and Josh Watson, and John and Kylie Meyen; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Tyler, Brooke, Jackson, Brenden, Austin, Emilie, Rusty, Lilly, Kaeden, Alexis, Carter, Rylie, Ryen, Ryhette, Tyler, Summer, Aiden, Jake, Nick, Mason, Kenadie, and Kaia; great-great-grandchildren, Lucy and Lyncoln; a sister, Bette Andersen of Willmar, MN; a brother, Bob and Monica Grengs of Victoria, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Geri was preceded in death by her husband, Johann Meyen; her parents; and a brother, Norman.
