Geraldine A. Lewandowski, 85, Browns Valley, MN, died Sunday, July 28, 2019, at the Browns Valley Health Center.
Funeral Mass will be Thursday, August 1, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Browns Valley with Father Gregg Frankman officiating. Music will be provided by organist Carmen Hills and the St. Anthony's Choir.
Burial will be in the St. Anthony's Cemetery, Browns Valley. Active urn bearers will be Geraldine's granddaughters, Kari Holman, Kourtney Lewandowski, Niki Rethke, and Jennifer Haanton. Honorary urn bearers will be Geraldine's grandsons, Erik, Justin, and Tyler Lewandowski.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the church.
Geraldine Adelyne was born June 22, 1934, to Alvin P. and Velma (Roark) Kleindl in rural Roberts County, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Browns Valley. Geraldine attended school in Browns Valley, graduating in 1953.
On January 5, 1954, Geraldine married Michael Lewandowski at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Browns Valley. Geraldine kept busy raising her family and was employed at the B & B Department Store and as a cook at the Browns Valley School. Mike died July 31, 2018.
Geraldine was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, playing Solitaire and cards, and doing word games. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. She especially loved spending time with her grandkids.
Survivors include her sons, Keith Lewandowski of Browns Valley, Kent Lewandowski of Wilmot, SD, and Jon Lewandowski of Wilmot; seven grandchildren, Kari (Jesse) Holman, Erik Lewandowski, Kourtney Lewandowski, Niki (Mark) Rethke, Jennifer Haanton, Justin Lewandowski, and Tyler Lewandowski; six great-grandchildren; brother, Vernon (Phyllis) Kleindl of Apple Valley, MN; sister, Sharon Kleindl of Browns Valley; sisters-in-law, Pat Kleindl of Browns Valley, Jeanette Kleindl of Newtonia, MO, Evelyn Kleindl of Browns Valley; and several other brothers and sisters in-law and nieces and nephews.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; parents; five brothers; and one sister.
