Gary graduated from Wilmot High School in 1962 and attended South Dakota State University for two years studying animal husbandry. They enjoyed traveling around the United States on many summer vacations but always had to check in at home to see how his "cattle" were doing. Favorite pastimes were dancing, playing cards, telling jokes and funny stories.
Gary is survived by his wife, Fay of Wilmot; a daughter, Jacquelyn Overberg of Wilmot; son, Brock Overberg of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Sharon Johnson of Kennewick, WA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Adeline; and sister, Barbara Johnson.
