Gary Elton

Gary Dean Elton, age 79, of Sturgis, SD, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held Monday, August 14, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sisseton Cemetery with Pastor Pat Schubert officiating.  Honorary urn bearers will be Dennis Elton, Pat Hedrick, Pete Jensen, and Daryl Holmberg.  Lunch will follow at the Roberts County 4-H building.

Gary was born March 12, 1944, to Edward and Ruth (Holmberg) Elton in Sisseton, SD.  He attended country grade school and graduated from Sisseton High School in 1962.  After finishing school, he worked for the City of Minneapolis as a backhoe operator.

Gary couldn't wait until he could retire and build his home in the Black Hills.  He loved living in that area and also loved his black Chevy Duramax High Country truck.

Gary looked forward to trips to his home farm.  He was an early riser and enjoyed sitting by the kitchen table drinking coffee and watching TV.  He was always ready to go out for breakfast.

Gary will be forever missed by his sister, Sharon and Pat Hedrick of Happy Valley, OR; brother, Dennis Elton of Sisseton; and his neighbors and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ruth Elton.
