Florence M. Roth, 95, Sisseton, SD, passed away Monday August 24, 2015, at the Tekakwitha Living Center in Sisseton.

There was a Celebration of Florence's Life on Saturday, August 29, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Sisseton with Rev. William Schruba officiating. Music was provided by pianist Marlys Brooks and vocalist Pat Schubert.

Burial was in the Sisseton Cemetery. Urn bearers were her grandsons, Michael Korshin, Kevin Brooks, Mark Brooks, Chad Brooks, Dino Brooks, Brandon Roth, Christopher Roth and Scott Christianson.

Visitation was Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. The Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt, SD was in charge of the arrangements.

Florence Myrna was born September 1, 1919, to William and Nina (Shilston) Blair in Browns Valley, MN. At a young age, her family moved to Kimball, MN. They moved back to Sisseton when she was in the eighth grade. Florence graduated from Sisseton High School in 1938. Her mother passed away when she was 18. Being the second oldest of eight children, Florence took over to help raise the younger siblings.

On September 30, 1940, Florence married Kenneth Roth in Clinton, MN. They had four children, Barbara, Marlys, Ronald, and Peggy. Kenneth passed away May 16, 1991.

Florence was a busy person and was involved in various organizations in the community. She was a 4-H leader for many years and worked at Stavig's Store and the Sisseton Courier. She was also a substitute driver for a laboratory out of St. Cloud, MN. She was on a first name basis with the Minnesota Highway Patrol.

Florence loved flowers and had several gardens in her yard. She also had a big garden each year and would can the produce and share with her family. She would bake bread every week and would have dough dogs ready for the kids when they got home from school.

At the age of 62, Florence started painting and photography, and it was obvious she loved them as there was a display of them in her home. At one time, she was the guest photographer at Roberts County Bank. Florence was on the go and always busy. Her home was the hub for all family gatherings and she really loved when the grandkids and great-grandkids came home. She made each and every one of them feel so special.

Florence was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was a Sunday school teacher and involved in Ladies Aid. She sang in the choir for many years and loved doing so.

In the later years, Florence wintered in Arizona. In 2001, she suffered a massive stroke and was then bound to a wheelchair. She spent the past 14 ½ years at Tekakwitha. She was always happy and had a smile for whoever came to visit her. She may not have remembered your name, but you knew that she knew who you were by the look on her face. She passed away peacefully and quietly.

Survivors include her children, Barbara Korshin of Northport, NY, Marlys (Cleon) Brooks of Sisseton, Ronald (Helene) Roth of Scottsdale, AZ, and Peggy Cigelske of Fargo, ND; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Dahl of Watertown, SD, and Chris Bateman of Normal, IL; Sister-in-law, Dolly Foster of Sartell, MN.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; parents, William and Nina; brothers, Darrell, Morris, Duane, Robert and infant brother William Blair, Jr.
