Evelyn M. Morris, 92, Ortonville, MN, formerly of Beardsley, MN, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022, at Fairway View Neighborhoods in Ortonville.
Visitation will be Friday, July 29, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration of the Life of Evelyn at 11:00 a.m. at the Beardsley United Methodist Church in Beardsley.
Burial will be in the Beardsley Community Cemetery.
Evelyn Marie Davidson Morris was born December 27, 1929, in Big Stone County, MN, to parents Christine (Spindler) Davidson and James Davidson, Jr. She attended County School District 23 for 1 st through 8th grade and graduated from Beardsley High School in 1947.
Evelyn worked as a Dental Assistant in the office of Dr. Alfred Hanson in Ortonville from 1948-1951. She returned to work, as needed, when the current assistant was absent.
Evelyn and John Andrew Morris were married October 28, 1951, in the Beardsley Methodist Church. To this union five children were born: Wanda of Ortonville, Karen (Dan Vraa) of Port Angeles, WA, Rod (Juli) of Tampa, FL, Marianne of New Hope, MN, and David of Euless, TX. Evelyn had three granddaughters: Rod and Juli's daughter, Kate, and Dave's daughters, Michelle and Rachel. Kate and her wife, Karem, have a daughter, Arabella and Rachel has a son, Frederick.
John and Evelyn farmed the Morris Family homestead in Prior Township until John's retirement in 1972. Following retirement, winters were spent in Green Valley, AZ, and in 2006 they made the move to the house in Ortonville.
Evelyn served as a Director of the Big Stone County Extension Service for 23 years and as the Big Stone County Fair Superintendent for over 20 years. She volunteered with the Bloodmobile, the American Legion Auxiliary, and served as a 4-H Leader, Brownie Scout Leader, and FHA Chapter Mother.
Her hobbies included music, painting, and reading, with her favorite pastime being spending time with her family. She sang and was a charter member of Lakeside Harmony Chorus of Ortonville, and when in Arizona, she sang with the Pueblo Pipers and Valley Chordettes. As an active member of the Beardsley Methodist Church, she served at times as Bible School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, United Methodist Church Officer, Conference Delegate, Music Chairman, and sang in the choir.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, brother Bill Davidson, and infant brother James.
