Edwin Joseph Seifert

Edwin Joseph (Joe) Seifert, age 75, Graceville, MN, passed away Monday, July 31, 2023, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville officiated by Father Brian Oestreich.

Burial will be in the Siloah Cemetery, rural Graceville.  Urn bearers will be his grandchildren, GeorgAnn Buller, Tailin Tommerdahl, Grace Seifert, Benjamin Seifert, Samuel Seifert, and Emma Seifert; and great-grandson, Vernon Jippy Buller.

Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. The Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt, SD, is in charge of the arrangements.

Edwin Joseph (Joe) Seifert, was the second of four children to Benedict and Inez (Mueller) Seifert born on January 29, 1948, in Graceville, MN.  He attended Graceville High School with the graduating class of 1966. In the following years he went on to attend the Minneapolis School of Business. On May 13, 1967, he married Shirley (Weick) Seifert in Graceville, MN, in which their 56 year-long marriage gifted them with three wonderful children, six grandchildren and one great grandbaby.

Outside of a few jobs in Minneapolis just beyond college, he and his family moved back to Graceville. He started as a janitor/teller at the Graceville State Bank, but he was determined to make a better life for his family and worked himself up to President. He worked there for 20 years, then transferred to Clinton State Insurance Agency where he was known by local farmers as 'Mr. 24/7' for 28 years, 9 of which he owned and operated this agency.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather living happily alongside his beautiful wife, Shirley and three children (Brent, Traci, and Cory Seifert). He spent many hours watching the FOX News channel, wishing he was ice fishing drinking a cold Coke and eating a Snickers, driving (when Shirley allowed him to) their Corvette and loving his grandchildren, who were the absolute center of his world. He was so overly proud and loved attending the various events his grandchildren participated in and looked forward to spending time surrounded by his family and friends. He looked forward to his daily calls to check in with his brothers saying, "Hey whatchya up to?"

His legacy lives on through his devoted wife Shirley; Children: Brent (Julie Grohs) Seifert of Port Salerno FL; Traci Seifert of "The van down by the river"; Cory (Katherine Gibson) Seifert of Evansville, MN; Grandchildren: Grace and Emma Seifert of Port Salerno, FL; GeorgAnn (Lucas) Buller of Graceville, MN and Tailin Tommerdahl of Alexandria, MN; Ben and Sam Seifert of Evansville, MN; and finally, his pride and joy – the one and only great grandchild, Vernon Jippy Buller; Siblings: Larry and Diana Seifert of Graceville, MN; Marc and Marilyn Seifert of Worthington, MN; and Don and Margaret Seifert of Graceville, MN.

Preceded in death by his parents Ben and Inez Seifert; In-laws: George, Clara and several other Weick family members.
