Dorothy "Dottie" Hahn

Dorothy "Dottie" Ann Hahn passed away on December 25, 2011, at her home in Rosholt.
Funeral services were Wednesday, December 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethania Lutheran Church in Rosholt with Pastor Nancy Quatier officiating. Organist was Lana Sand. Soloist was her great-niece, Jasmine Swartz. Pallbearers were grandsons Ryan, Aaron, Christopher and Jared Hahn, Mathew Herrmann and nephews Douglas, Daniel and Todd "Stu" Swartz. Honorary pallbearers were all her family and friends. She was laid to rest in Bethania Cemetery, Rosholt, next to her loving husband, Ronnie.
Visitation was Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt and continued Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Dottie was born March 6, 1935, in Menahga, MN, to Francis and Lucy (Klessig) Willard. She was baptized at Silica, MN, with her siblings, Doris, Laura Jean and James. She grew up in Chisholm and Hibbing, MN, and graduated from school in Hibbing.
As a young woman Dottie moved to Houston, TX, where she worked as a waitress. It was there that she met a Ronnie Hahn, a farmer from South Dakota. They were married on May 31, 1958, at Bethania Lutheran Church in Rosholt. They had two children, Kristy and Keith. Dottie worked at Akerson's Hardware, Rowland's Store and Bethania Lutheran Church as church secretary. In 1975 Dottie began working at Rosholt Community Bank and she continued to work there through the transitions to Farmers & Merchants Bank and Great Western Bank until her retirement in 2000.
Dottie was confirmed at Bethania Lutheran Church in 1959 where she was an active member until her death. She taught Sunday School for many years and also taught Bible School.
Dottie served as president of the Bethania Church Council during the 1990's. She was a charter member of the Marigold Extension Club and enjoyed gardening, reading and bird watching. Dottie and Ronnie enjoyed many evenings playing cards with their friends. They also enjoyed spending weekends at the family cabin on Lake Traverse. She especially enjoyed baking chocolate chip cookies for her grandsons.
Dottie is survived by her daughter, Kristy (David) Herrmann of Sioux Falls, SD; and her son, Keith (Annette) Hahn of Rosholt; five grandsons, Ryan (Emily) Hahn of Kindred, ND, Aaron Hahn of Dell Rapids, SD, Christopher (fiancé Jessica Simpson) Hahn of Rosholt, Jared (friend Sarah Smith) Hahn of Rosholt, and Mathew Herrmann of Sioux Falls; and two great-grandsons, Deegan Hahn of Kindred and Ayden Hahn of Rosholt. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Jeanne Swartz of Rosholt; her sisters, Doris Bemrose of Fayetteville, AR, and Laura Jean Dobson of Dubois, WY; her brother James Willard of Hibbing; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie, an infant son and her parents. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred Knowles and Frances Musseau; her brothers, Robert, Richard and Albert Willard; and her brother-in-law, Jimmie Swartz.
