Dorothea Faye "Toots" was born March 8, 1934, to Ortwin and Hazel (Leen) Struck in Roberts County, SD.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at Brandvold Lutheran Church.

As she was growing up on the farm, Toots would go for walks to the meadow in the spring collecting pussy willows by the creek.   In the summer and fall she enjoyed the colors of nature. She enjoyed skiing the hills on the farm in the winter. One of her greatest joys was reading.  She was always reading in her spare time liking the Western books the most.  Toots also found a lot of peace and satisfaction with the horses on the farm.  She enjoyed riding bareback around the farm.  She was a quiet person but very kind and generous.

After graduation from New Effington High School in 1952, Dorothea decided to further her education and become a nurse as her sister Shirley had done in Willmar.  Once graduated, she began working in various medical facilities throughout her career.  These included Willmar, MN, Alexandria, MN, Denver, CO, Sioux Falls, SD, Wheaton, MN, and the Rosholt Care Center.

Survivors include brothers Charles Struck of New Effington, Larry (Kathy) Struck of Denison, IA, and Ronald (Sue) Struck of Rosholt; and sisters Shirley Struck Conway of Santa Cruz, CA, and Ruth Ann (Orvin) Struck Ulstad of Wahpeton, ND.   She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ortwin and Hazel; brothers Wallace, Donald, and Orlyn; sister Marlys Ellingson; in-laws James Conway and Ardyce Struck; and nephews Bret Struck and Dan Conway.

Memorials will be given to the Alzheimer Association.
