Doris K. Rich, 89, Rosholt, SD, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at the St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge, MN.
Funeral services were Friday, May 17, at 2:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt with Rev. Anna Williamson officiating. Music was provided by organist Ruby Larsen.
Burial was in the Brandvold Cemetery, rural Victor, SD. Pallbearers were Cheryl Walker, Larry Rich, Bob Thomas, John Thomas, Bob Thomas, Jr., and Ben Koehler.
Visitation was Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt and continued Friday one hour prior to the service.
Doris Kathryn was born November 9, 1923, in Taylor Township, Traverse County, MN, to Archie and Esther (Kriesel) Ross. She attended rural grade school in Traverse County and graduated from Tintah High School. After finishing school, Doris worked in St. Paul, MN, at an aircraft manufacturing plant and in Wheaton, MN, at two grocery stores.
While working in St. Paul, Doris married Robert D. Thomas and to this union one son was born. This marriage ended in divorce.
On November 26, 1957, Doris married Lawrence Rich in Wheaton, MN, and they made their home on a farm north of Rosholt until 1989 when they moved into Rosholt. Lawrence passed away December 10, 2004.
Doris was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. She was currently a member of Bethania Lutheran Church in Rosholt and was a former member of Brandvold Lutheran Church, rural Victor.
Survivors include her sons, Robert E. Thomas of Alexandria, MN, and Larry Rich of Rosholt; daughter, Cheryl Walker of Rosholt; a sister, Ethel Mannerud of Brookings, SD; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Rich; four brothers and one sister.
