Donald James Sando, age 93, Rosholt, SD passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021, with family by his side at the Tekakwitha Living Center in Sisseton, SD. A private family service will be held on Monday January 25th at 11:00 am at Bethania Lutheran Church in Rosholt with Pastor Nancy Quatier and Rick Sando officiating. Music will be provided by organist/pianist Lana Sand and vocalists Leann Sando, Joy Pipgras and Katie Murphy. Arrangements are being handled by Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt. Interment in the Bethania Cemetery, Rosholt.

Donald was born March 26, 1927, to Oliver and Emma (Moen) Sando in White Rock, SD. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethania Lutheran Church in Rosholt. Don attended and graduated from Rosholt High School in 1945. Following graduation, he farmed and raised cattle with his dad.
On September 3, 1949, Don married Audrey Lillian Pohl at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rosholt and shared nearly 68 years of love and devotion to one another. Together they raised six children on their farm south of Rosholt and passed on his love of farming to his son and grandsons. Family celebrations were highlights in his life and Don's quick wit and sense of humor was second to none.
Don was a life-long and active member of Bethania Lutheran Church and served many years on the township and elevator boards. He mastered any project he pursued including the restoration of his 1930 Model A.
Survivors include his six children, Steven Sando of Coon Rapids, MN, Cheryl (Jamey) Jurgens of Milbank, SD, Karen (Ken) Braun of Fargo, ND, Richard (Leann) Sando of Rosholt, Myra (Tom) Nowak of Casselton, ND, and Donna (Brian) Christl of West Fargo, ND; 13 grandchildren, Donald Jurgens, Valerie Dodd, Sophia Murphy, Brian Renelt, Mark Renelt, Renee Colclough, Lezlie Simonson, Isaac Sando, Alexander Sando, Scott Nowak, Michael Nowak, Nathan Nowak and Emma Christl; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his wife Audrey; his parents Oliver and Emma Sando; sisters Doris Lick, Evelyn Rydell, Dorothy Lepinski, Gladys White; and father and mother-in-law George Sr. and Celestine Pohl.
