Donald J. Murphy, 56, Browns Valley, MN, died Monday, June 20, 2011, at the Coteau des Prairies Hospital in Sisseton, SD.
Mass of Christian burial was Thursday, June 23, at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville, MN, with Father David Breu officiating. Music was provided by organist Donna Arens. Vocalists were Deb Stueve, Jean Costello, Sandy Bauer and Chris Weick.
Burial was in the Graceville Consolidated Cemetery, Graceville, MN. Donald was born March 23, 1955, in Graceville, MN, to James and Nancy (Arens) Murphy. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Barry, MN. He grew up on a farm north of Barry. After graduation he farmed for a couple of years. He followed his dreams to purchase Spring Creek Trout Ranch in Wisconsin where he moved his family. Donald worked at the Park Falls Paper Mill. Later he moved to his present home on the South Dakota side of Traverse Lake. He always loved to fish, hunt, and enjoyed gardening and selling produce.
Survivors include his daughters, Jessica (Mark) Senger of Greenfield, WI, Terri (Josh) Seroano of Independence, MO, and Amy Murphy of Chippewa Falls, WI; special friend, Chris Luebben and her daughter Grace of Glidden, WI; his parents, Jim and Nancy Murphy of Graceville; four grandchildren, Ryan, Aiden, Hunter and Aaliyah; brothers and sisters, Dan Murphy of Naples, FL, John (Mitzy) Murphy of Graceville, Connie (Dean) Mikkelson of Sioux Falls, SD, Jerry (Julie) Murphy of Beardsley, Judy (Greg) Murphy of Mesa, AZ, and Joe (Katie) Murphy of Graceville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by a brother, Charles.
