Dolores C. Erickson, 94, Rosholt, SD, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013, at the Rosholt Care Center.
Funeral services were Tuesday, February 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethania Lutheran Church in Rosholt with Rev. Nancy Quatier officiating. Music was provided by organist Lana Sand and vocalists Paul and Lana Sand.
Burial was in the Bethania Cemetery, Rosholt. Pallbearers were Chuck Mamer, Stanley Cornelius, Nick Richter, Mike Reedy and Johnny Hjalmer.
Visitation was Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt and continued Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Dolores Catherine Hjalmer was born July 13, 1918, in White Rock, SD, to Fred and Hildur (Bergstrom) Hjalmer. She attended rural school near White Rock and graduated from Rosholt High School in 1936. After attending Northern State Teacher's College, Dolores taught country school in the Rosholt area. Dolores moved to Minneapolis where she worked during the war years.
Dolores married Glendon W. "Cooch" Erickson on July 1, 1943, in California. They returned to Rosholt and raised four children. Cooch died July 4, 1991. For the past seven years, Dolores enjoyed residing at the Rosholt Care Center.
Dolores was a member of Bethania Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed cats, doing crossword puzzles, reading, painting and rosemaling.
Survivors include her children, Susan Richter of Indianapolis, IN, David (Terry) Erickson of Geneva, IL, and Cindy Erickson of Minneapolis, MN; 7 grandchildren, Kristin, Ericka, Nicholaus, Kirstie, Jennifer, Sara, and Abby; 7 great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Hunter, Isaiah, Emery, Ethan, Morgan and Eli; sisters, Dotty and Pat; and brothers, Dennis, Wesley, and Johnny.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Brent; and brother, Glenn.
