Doloras L. Ceroll, 81, Sisseton, SD, formerly of rural Claire City, SD, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at the Tekakwitha Nursing Center in Sisseton.
Funeral services were Friday, July 23, at 1:30 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church at rural Claire City with Pastor Douglas Wanderer officiating. Music was provided by organist Edwin Arndt, Jr. and vocalist Lance Hoeke.
Burial was in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike McDonnel, Milton Pletten, Kevin Pletten, Paul Davis, Jeff Shepherd and Glen Schaunaman. Honorary pallbearers were all of Doloras's friends from the Sisseton Hi-Rise Apartments.
Visitation was Thursday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt, SD. Visitation continued one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Friday.
Doloras Louise was born on September 9, 1928 at Anamoose, ND to Fred and Esther (Dalchow) Schaunaman. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sisseton, SD. Doloras grew up in the Sisseton area and attended school at Easter #2 rural school. For the next ten years, she lived and worked at the Sisseton Courier where she held various positions.
On June 8, 1960, Doloras married John Ceroll at the Zion Lutheran Church in rural Claire City, SD. They farmed in Minnesota Township and retired in 1995. In 1997 they moved to Sisseton. John died in 2005.
Doloras loved fishing and animals, especially her dogs and goats.
Survivors include three sisters, Mildred Opitz of Sisseton, Charlotte (Jim) Ritz of Watertown, SD, and Susie (Fred) Davis of Marksville, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doloras was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Gilbert and Clarence; an infant brother Glenn; and a brother-in-law, Gene Opitz.
