Dennis (Denny) John Vig was born on April 5th, 1953, at the Veblen Community Hospital to John Neal Vig and Elda Mae (Bessler) Vig. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He graduated from Veblen High School in 1971. He then attended Lake Area Technical Institute and pursued a degree in Agribusiness.

Dennis and Bev were united in marriage on October 24th, 1998. He was a loving husband to Bev and a cherished father to Troy and stepfather to Tom and April. They were married until February 2023, when Bev lost her battle to cancer.

Following their wedding, they enjoyed a honeymoon trip to Hawaii. Together they enjoyed a trip to Nashville to see Elvis's place, a trip to California, a trip to Florida to see Walt Disney World, and trips with the Herman family to Las Vegas. He especially enjoyed watching his grandkids participate in all of their activities, whether it was on the court, field, or in the pool, he was always there cheering them on.

Dennis was actively involved in bowling and softball leagues and always enjoyed his love for golf. We all knew that Wednesday was his golf day for league plus religiously watched Wheel of Fortune at 6:30 on weekdays. If he wasn't swinging a bat or club, he was singing at many events with the Ole Olson Trio. He participated in Fantasy Football every year with his brothers and nephews. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings, Timberwolves, and Twins fan, and on most phone calls with Dennis, you could expect an update on the latest score, or that he was watching the game with Curtis. He was always known to give you a good laugh with his sense of humor and always had a sweet tooth for chocolate ice cream, donuts, and about any kind of candy bar.

While in Veblen, Dennis helped on the family farm. The family raised chickens, pigs, and a few head of cattle and his dad let him farm a few acres of his own. He was actively involved in church functions. He was employed at Bobcat in Gwinner for close to 40 years. After retirement, he worked part-time for the City of Veblen doing many different tasks.

Left to cherish Dennis's memory are three children: Troy (Cathy) Larson of Detroit Lakes, MN; Tom Hornseth of Wahpeton, ND; and April (Shawn) Tosse of Britton. He was blessed with seven special grandchildren (oldest to youngest): Wyatt, Noah, Mariah, Ella, Johanna, Laken, and Zachariah. He is also survived by his siblings, Darrell (Lois) Vig, Jeff (Denise) Vig, Cheryl (Ron) Deutsch, Sandra Danaher, and John (Kim) Vig, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Darwin Osterman, Norman (Kathy) Dalberg, Brad Griggs, Gail Kelly, Connie (Kermit) Anderson, Melissa Dalberg, Ardes (Jerry) Bybee, Lorraine Fletcher; and many special nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; his wife Bev, nephew, Allan Vig; sisters-in-law, Joanne Roth, Elaine Griggs, and Mavis Osterman; and brothers-in-law, Harold Dalberg, Phil Peterson, Keith Kelly, Howard Roth, and Carlton Fletcher.

Condolences may be sent to PO Box 214, Veblen, SD 57270.
