Dennis "Denny" Michael Remund was a special child of GOD, always surrounded by angels his whole life and through his death.  Everyone loved him and he loved others unconditionally.  He was a social butterfly making conversation with everyone he met, always participating in activities every day.  His favorite game was bingo.  He was adventurous on the farm where he grew up.  He loved all the animals, especially the chickens.  One time, he set free all the neighbor's chickens they just couped up.  He would frequently ride his bike to town, Wilmot, 2 ½ miles in the hot sun to the dairy bar.  Don and Del always treated him to ice cream.

At the age of 14, Denny moved to a group home in Watertown to pursue more opportunities where he became involved in the community, worked a job, and had his own checkbook.  He frequently went to restaurants like Wheel Inn, Perkins and the Asian Buffet where there was self-serve coffee and pop, two of his favorites.  He enjoyed fishing, pontoon rides, the zoo, circus, Mall of America and even a rock concert in Sioux Falls.  Denny attended bible study every week and had a close relationship with GOD.  Denny loved to go shopping for treats at HyVee and Walmart where one day a stranger bought him a new television.  He loved family and coming home for long weekends and holidays watching the pelicans and geese on Big Stone Lake.  Born on the Fourth of July, we always said he was a "firecracker," and he was so excited about his birthday.

In April 2020, due to health reasons, Denny moved to Avantara Nursing Home in Milbank.  Staff took him under their wing and pampered him.  Residents became his second family overseeing his bingo cards and watching him master his puzzles.  Throughout the years, he kept the memory of past neighbors alive such as Wes, Mable and Grace Remund; Punk and Viv Jarman, Donald and Norma Remund, and Jim Schwagerl, his uncle.  He loved Westerns and John Wayne was his idol.  On any given day, he sat watching Westerns or listening to music, with his cows and horses in front of him on the table while he worked on a puzzle.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents, Sis (Nigg) and Kenneth Remund; and brothers-in-law, Tom Kaufenberg and Dean Herting.

Survivors include two sisters, Sharon Herting of Arkansas, and Janet Kaufenberg of Minnesota; two brothers, Steve Remund of Washington, and Kevin Remund of Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorials are preferred to Special Olympics, an organization Denny participated in and was dear to his heart.
