Dennis Enwiller

Dennis L. Enwiller, age 81, Rosholt, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023, at his home in Rosholt.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 13, at 2:00 p.m. at Bethania Lutheran Church in Rosholt with Rev. Nancy Quatier officiating. Music will be provided by organist Donna Murdoff and vocalist Donna Mickelson.

Dennis LeRoy Enwiller was born November 19, 1941, in Ortonville, MN, the second child to Julius and Gladys C.E. (Oltman) Enwiller. He was welcomed home by his sister Hazel Jean. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethania Lutheran Church in Rosholt. Dennis grew up on the family homestead 2 ½ miles southeast of Rosholt. As a young boy he attended country school in White Rock Township. He participated in daily chores as a boy and enjoyed all farm animals. One of the most unusual pets he had was a Hereford bull he tamed well enough to ride.

Dennis, known to his friends as Denny, attended high school in Rosholt, graduating from Rosholt High School in 1959. He was very studious and constantly read books, even comic books. As a young man, he became interested in reading and studying the Bible. After reading it several times, he came to understand it so well he could discuss it with anyone. He would often say that everything important to know could be found in the Bible from showing kindness, to advice about your health.

Dennis's favorite sport was baseball, and his favorite team was the Yankees. He listened to games on the radio, as well as the crime shows "Dragnet" and "The Shadow." He enjoyed past and current history and would tell many a good story to those who took time to listen.

Dennis worked for many years on the Neil Hanson farm and for many other area farmers. He baled many flax straw bales. He also helped out at both the Rosholt Locker and for the Andersons at the grocery store. Dennis's favorite pastimes were going fishing and going to auctions.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; stepbrothers, Richard and George; stepsister, Inez; brothers-in-law, Marvin D. Moderow, Donald L. Whitsett, and Harry Slingsby; and nephew, Matthew Moderow.

Left to celebrate his life are his sisters, Hazel Jean Moderow and Janet Kay Whitsett; nephews, Mark (Teresa) Moderow, David (Lauren) Moderow, James Moderow, Paul Moderow, Daniel Moderow, John Slingsby, Mark Whitsett, and Joshua Whitsett; nieces, Ruth Moderow and Dr. Donna D. Whitsett and her husband Wm. Cone III.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Denny's memory may be made to the Rosholt Fire Department or to the Rosholt Beautification Committee.
