Delmar N. Braun, 81, Rosholt, SD, died Monday, April 19, 2010, at the Wheaton Community Hospital in Wheaton, MN. Funeral mass was Thursday, April 22, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Rosholt with Father Dennis Deis, O.M.I. officiating. Music was provided by pianist Austin Eggers. Burial was in the St. Nicholas Cemetery, rural Rosholt. Military honors were provided by the Leo American Legion Post 48 of Rosholt and the Read-Veflin American Legion Post 180 of New Effington. Pallbearers were Rick LeClair, Joe Brockhaus, Terry Braun, Dick Braun, Duane Braun, Rick Bullis, and Bob Braun. Visitation was Wednesday, April 21, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt. There was a wake service at 7:00 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Rosholt. Visitation continued Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church. Delmar Nicholas Braun was born July 15, 1928, to Henry and Mary (Kraus) Braun in Breckenridge, MN. After attending rural school, he farmed with his father and brothers. On November 5, 1953, Delmar was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan. While serving his country, Delmar earned the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged August 4, 1955. On August 18, 1956, Delmar married Margaret Brockhaus at St. John's Catholic Church in Rosholt. After their marriage, he continued to farm in White Rock Township. In 2001, he retired and moved into Rosholt. Delmar was a 4-H leader, a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, the Roberts County Right to Life, and the Roberts County Pork Producers. Delmar enjoyed fishing and following the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. He especially loved watching his kids and grandkids play basketball. Survivors include his wife, Margaret of Rosholt; children, Julie (Sam) Baerlocher of Florence, MT, Loran (Kristi) Braun, Chuck (Netti) Braun, Randy (Holly) Braun, Dennis (Tami) Braun all of Rosholt, Denise Braun of Coram, MT, and Janelle (Bob) Rossow of Pollock, SD; grandchildren, Rae Ann, Reid, Ryne and Rhett Baerlocher, Quentin Braun, Landon, Taylor and Jenna Braun, Hanna and Garret Braun, and Rebecca, Rylee, Jada, and Jordyn Rossow; sisters, Henrietta Klein of Rosholt, and Marietta (Rodney) Bullis of Nashua, MN; and brothers, Richard (Gladys) Braun, Gilbert (Marcella) Braun, Donald (Annamae) Braun, and Maurice Braun all of Rosholt. Delmar was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark; granddaughters, Hailey, Bethany and Courtney; and brother, Edwin.
