Delbert Kenneth Lackey was born August 28, 1927, in Hankinson, ND, to Fred and Mary (Schultz) Lackey. He was raised on a farm near New Effington. He started farming on his own at the age of 19.
On May 14, 1947, Del married Eva Pohl at the St. Joseph Lutheran Church in rural Rosholt. Together they raised three children, Bonnie, Mark and Sheila. Del continued to farm in the Rosholt area. In 1983, due to health reasons, Del and Eva retired and moved into Rosholt.
Del was a member of the St. Joseph Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He also belonged to the Rosholt Area Threshermen's Association, the Lion's Club, Rosholt Museum, and NFO.
Del would spend many hours working in his shop on the farm. He really enjoyed "visiting" with family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and horseshoes. One of Eva's favorite memories is of Del making popcorn and Mark sitting on his lap eating it with him.
Survivors include his wife, Eva of Rosholt; son, Mark Lackey of Rosholt; daughter, Sheila Lackey and friend Lloyd Vellek of Pendleton, KY; son-in-law, Bob Rolling of Monticello, MN; three grandchildren, Justin Berger, Erin Lackey, and Ashley Lackey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Del was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Bonnie Rolling; three brothers, Elroy, Harvey and Lester; and a sister, Rozella.
