Darrell Ceroll

Darrell H. Ceroll, age 69, New Effington, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022, at St. Gerard's Community of Care Nursing Home in Hankinson.

Funeral services will be Monday, November 21, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Claire City with Rev. Nathanael Biberdorf officiating.  Music will be provided by organist Edwin Arndt.

Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Claire City.  Pallbearers will be Rory Ceroll, Rodney Ceroll, Robin Veflin, Matt Posch, Roy Koch, Davey Ceroll, and Jeff Steffens.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt.

Darrell Herman Ceroll was born February 27, 1953, to Arthur and Viviana (Helmer) Ceroll in New Effington.  He attended school in New Effington, graduating from New Effington High School in 1971.  He worked at Ireland's Lumber Yard in Rosholt for a few years while he farmed with his brothers on the family farm.

On November 15, 1986, Darrell was united in marriage to Jane Schiltz at St. Philip's Catholic Church in Hankinson.  They were blessed with five children:  William, John, Darrell, Andrew, and Amy.  They lived on the family farm raising dairy cattle and later beef cattle.  He also helped his brother and nephew farm.  Darrell was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2003, which slowly progressed.  He made his home at St. Gerard's in the fall of 2020.

Darrell enjoyed playing cards and watching Westerns. His favorite thing to do was spending time with his family.  He loved spoiling his grandkids and feeding them lots of candy and ice cream.

Survivors include his wife, Jane of New Effington; children, William (Nikki) Ceroll of Barney, ND, John (Jordan) Ceroll, Darrell (April) Ceroll, Andrew Ceroll, and Amy Ceroll all of New Effington; grandchildren, Dominic, Spencer, Bentley, Kylie, Ashleigh, Paxton, Laine, Elsie, and Russell; siblings, Doyle (Georgine) Ceroll of Forest Lake, MN, DiAnn (Norman) Beyer of Hancock, MN, Sharon Johnson of Champlin, MN, Renae (Keith) Bostrom of New Effington, Paulette (David) Christianson of Sisseton, Arthur (Adelle) Ceroll of Sisseton, David (Paulette) Ceroll of New Effington, and Roger Ceroll of New Effington.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Viviana; parents-in-law, Francis and Margaret Schiltz; sister, Sylvia Rolstad; brother, Ronald Ceroll; nephew, Daren Ceroll; brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Paul Schiltz, Richard Barsness, Denny Johnson, Sylvia Ceroll, and Sharon Ceroll.
