Darlene Faye Siegel, 84, New Effington, SD, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at the Golden Living Center in Lake Norden, SD.

Darlene was born April 17, 1930, in rural Chippewa County, MN, to Charley and Alma (Fahleen) Jenkins. She attended rural school through eighth grade.
On January 16, 1949, Darlene married Byron Siegel. She dedicated her life to raising their five children while living in Rosholt and New Effington. Following their graduation, she enjoyed working as the head cook for the New Effington school.
After retiring, Darlene and Byron enjoyed traveling and spending time at their home in Arizona. She enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, and quilting. She especially enjoyed being with her family. She became a resident at Countryside Inn in Rosholt in October 2009, and lived there until she moved to Golden Living Center in Lake Norden January 2013.
Survivors include three daughters: Linda Hillestad, Lake Campbell, SD, Karen Zbanski (Walt), Lake Poinsett, SD, and Pam Ratigan (Chris Meyer), Florence, SD; two sons, David (Debbie), Orono, MN, and Gary, New Effington, SD, six grandchildren: Amy Jo (Eric) Lennartson, Sarah (Brian) Sarff, Angela (Jay) Simms, Craig (Tawny) Zbanski, Erica Brandt, and Austin Brandt; and ten great-grandchildren.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Byron; and four brothers, Clayton, Bernard, Mel, and Leo Jenkins.
