Danny A. Navratil, 88, Rosholt, SD, formerly of New Effington, SD, passed away Friday, August 7, 2020 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND with his children by his side.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Walla Lutheran Church in rural New Effington with Rev. Suzanne Benidt officiating. Music will be provided by organist Robin Dare. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral services will be livestreamed on the Eggers Funeral Home Facebook page.
Military honors will be provided by the Read-Veflin American Legion Post 180 of New Effington.
Burial will be in the Walla Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nathan Flaa, Matthew Navratil, Kirk Navratil, Wade Navratil, Jodeen Kutter, and Randy Ostby.
Danny Allen was born June 14, 1932 in Lien Township, SD to Frank and Louise (Kalina) Navratil. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in New Effington. Danny attended country school through the eighth grade in Lien Township.
In 1953 Danny enlisted in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Japan.
On July 25, 1959, Danny married Mariann Eidet at Walla Lutheran Church. They made their home in Lien Township where they farmed and raised their children, Elizabeth, Timothy, and David. He also ran road grader and sold seed corn.
Danny served on the Lien Township board and the Walla Lutheran Church board for many years. He also spent countless hours tinkering in his shop.
Survivors include his children, Elizabeth Navratil of Sioux Falls, SD, Timothy (Becky) Navratil of Rothsay, MN, and David Navratil of New Effington; 2 grandsons, Nathan (Kaci) Flaa of Watertown, SD, and Matthew (Jenny) Navratil of Brookings, SD; 5 great- grandchildren, Nicholas, Noah, Joshua, Isabelle, and Cecelia; 4 sisters-in-law, Berneta, Claude, & Susanne Navratil, and Lois Ostby; and brother- in-law Palmer Eidet Jr. and many nieces & nephews.
Danny was preceded in death by his wife Mariann in 2009; his parents, Frank and Louise Navratil, mother & father in-law Ruth and Palmer Eidet, brothers, Leonard, Dean, and Franklin; sisters, Dorothy Hentz, and Louise Bergstrom.
