Dale Aldon Voss was born July 2, 1933, to Irvin and Sadie (Bachman) Voss at his Grandma Inga's home in Rosholt. He was baptized at the Rosholt Methodist Church. Dale later joined the Catholic Church receiving his First Holy Communion on November 21, 1954 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He attended elementary school at Ideal No. 1 Country School and graduated from Rosholt High School in 1951. Dale enlisted in the US Army in 1952 specializing in Army Airplane Mechanics.

Dale married Marlys Jastram on January 8, 1955 at St. John's Catholic Church in Rosholt. When Dale was discharged from the Army in April 1955, he returned to Rosholt to farm with his dad. In 1956, he went to work for the Rosholt Creamery, then moved to Britton where he worked in a creamery and a locker plant and finally returned to Rosholt where he was employed by Consumer's Co-op Oil.

In 1976, Dale and Marlys purchased Rennerfeldt Clothing and Laundromat and renamed it Voss Clothing and Laundromat. After retiring in 1995, Dale was then employed by the Rosholt School District as bus manager and driver. He drove a regular bus route and activity bus for band, speech, and sports events, thoroughly enjoying competition of any type. He always spoke fondly of his "bus kids" until retiring in 2010. In July 2015, Dale moved to the Countryside Inn. The love of his life, Marlys, passed away too soon on March 18, 2016. Dale moved to St. Francis Home in Breckenridge in January 2017.

An active member of his community, Dale belonged to the Rosholt Commercial Club, Rosholt Fire Department, Rosholt Ambulance, Rosholt Town Board, and the Rosholt Area Threshermen's Association. He also was a member of the Leo American Legion Post 48 and St. John's Church Council. Dale was also a Boy Scouts leader and was extremely proud when two of his grandsons achieved their Eagle Scout honors. In his spare time, he was the caretaker of Hillside Cemetery and helped with the census in Roberts County.

Dale's interests were many. He was proud of his Farm Toy collection, especially the pedal tractors that he restored over the years. He enjoyed wood working and crafting special gifts for his children and grandchildren. He loved to tinker and was able to fix most anything. He also enjoyed gardening and giving his prized produce to friends and family. If you happened to catch Dale sitting, he was likely to be solving a crossword puzzle, playing cards or marbles, or enjoying a cup of coffee and conversation with friends. Dale could often be seen at auction sales and local sports events. His greatest joy was any time spent with his grandchildren. He and Marlys had a loving and powerful influence on their lives. All of the grandchildren have cherished memories of time spent at Grandpa and Grandma's home receiving loving instruction, advice and indulgence.

Survivors include his children, Gail Voss of St. Paul, MN, Greg Voss of Rosholt, Glenn (Mary Ann) Voss of Sioux Falls, Mark (Holly) Voss of Breckenridge, MN, Laurie Sanders of Fergus Falls, MN, and Lisa (Ron) Kaenel of Willmar, MN; nine grandchildren, Sadie, Curtis, Brian, April (Eric), Ryan, Joe, Megan, Mary (Derek), and Lexie; one great-grandson, Landon; two expected great-grandchildren; sister, Arlene (Glendon) Ellingson of Bloomington, MN; sister-in-law, Karen (LeRoy) Edlund of Cyrus, MN; numerous nieces and nephews; and special neighbors, Casey, Jen, Isaac, Mya, and Laiken Loosmore.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Marlys; parents; brothers, Curtis and Maurice Voss; and sister-in-law, Melita Voss.
