Cobie G. Lindner, 84, Graceville, MN, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at the Ortonville Area Hospital in Ortonville, MN.
Funeral services were Saturday, October 19, at 11:00 a.m. at Siloah Lutheran Church, rural Graceville, with Rev. Dr. John Ragan officiating. Music was provided by organist Pam Chase.
Burial will be in the Siloah Lutheran Cemetery, rural Graceville. Military honors were provided by the Jesse S. Poole American Legion Post 297 of Graceville. Honorary urn bearers were all of Cobie's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Active urn bearer was Kobie Morrill.
Visitation was Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the church.
Cobie Gideon Lindner was born July 27, 1929, in Gothenburg, NE, to Adolf and Ida (Ostendorf) Lindner. At the age of 9, the family moved to Minnesota to the first real home he ever knew. Cobie attended rural school at District 10 in Traverse County, MN. On September 22, 1953, he entered the U.S. Army. He earned the National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged January 22, 1955.
On December 16, 1956, Cobie married Lois Tracy in Seward, NE. To this union, three daughters were born: Pamela, Kathryn, and Joyce. Cobie and Lois farmed in Parnell Township, rural Graceville, MN. Over the years, they purchased the family farm first owned by Cobie's Grandpa William Lindner. In the fall of 2002, they moved into Graceville.
Cobie was a member of Siloah Lutheran Church and the Jesse S. Poole American Legion Post 297 of Graceville. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and playing cards, especially with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Lois of Graceville; two daughters, Pamela (Mark) Svendsgaard of Fergus Falls, MN, and Kathryn (Kent) Morrill of Clinton, MN; seven grandchildren, Kari (Tracy) Casper, Kayla Morrill, Kristen (Clayton) Brobst, Kobie Morrill, Amanda Friedrich (Chad Grover), Alexis Svendsgaard, and Rick (Jessi) Garner; great-grandchildren, David and Kevin Casper, and Olivia and Bryar Brobst; two sisters, Joan Geerts of Rochester, MN, and Rosemary Wood of Graceville, MN; one sister-in-law Helen (Jake) Homan of Cambridge, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cobie was preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce; and his parents, Adolf and Ida Lindner.
