Clarice L. Burgess, 91, Beardsley, MN, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at the Browns Valley Health Center, Browns Valley, MN. Funeral services were Monday, February 1, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Beardsley United Methodist Church in Beardsley with Rev. Anna Williamson officiating. Music was provided by organist Janet Kellen and vocalists Sue Sykora and Stacey Borgheiinck.
Burial will be at a later date in the Valley View Cemetery, Browns Valley. Urn bearers were Mark Danielson and Dennis Sykora. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church.
Clarice Lois (Raw) Burgess was born in Browns Valley on November 2, 1918, to Robert and Mabel (Anthony) Raw. She graduated from Browns Valley High School.
On July 4, 1940, Clarice was united in marriage to Caryl Otis Burgess in Waukegan, IL. They were blessed with two children: Glenn and Caryl. Clarice was employed at the Fansteel Metallurgical Corporation in North Chicago, IL, as a payroll clerk for 22 years. She raised her children in Waukegan and moved to Beardsley in 1981 after the death of her husband Caryl. In 2006, she moved to the Greenleaf Assisted Living Center in Sisseton, SD, and recently made her home in the Browns Valley Health Center. Clarice belonged to the Beardsley Methodist Church and was a member of the August Altheide American Legion Auxiliary Post 302 of Beardsley.
Clarice's hobbies included reading, doing crossword puzzles, and baking. Clarice lived a life of commitment to her family and friends. She had a sharp intellect and truly enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Clarice will be terribly missed by her family and all those who loved her.

Survivors include her son, Glenn (Kathy) Burgess and daughter, Caryl Burgess both of Beardsley; three grandchildren, Lisa (Jason) Bailey, Jennifer (Dennis) Sykora, and Katie (Mark) Danielson; six great-grandchildren, Antonia and Ciara Bailey, Cacee and Kendall Danielson, and Cameron and Cole Sykora; two sisters, Faye (Gary) Nelson and Dorie Raw both of Browns Valley; a brother, Donald (Dorice) Raw of New York State; and many nieces and nephews.
Clarice was preceded in death by her husband, Caryl; her parents, Robert and Mabel Raw; four brothers, Arlos, Jack, Cecil, and Stanley; and a sister, Shirley.
