Clarence Herbert was born February 9, 1939, in Sisseton, SD, to Herbert and Mabel (Archut) Pistorius. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Harmon Township. He attended rural school through the eighth grade in Roberts County, SD. After finishing school, Clarence began farming with his father.

On June 12, 1965, Clarence married Donna Frey at the Wilmot Lutheran Church in Wilmot, SD. Clarence continued to farm in Hart Township, Roberts County. Clarence enjoyed all aspects of farming, especially his John Deere combine and checking crops and cattle on his 4-wheeler. His cattle, along with his Lincoln pickup, were his pride and joy. All Clarence knew was to farm, and even Parkinson's couldn't stop him. His spring job on the farm was planting corn. Every morning he spent time at the table talking with the boys about what was going to happen at the farm that day.

Clarence enjoyed tinkering in the shop and riding his golf cart. He liked his popcorn every night and going for rides and grocery shopping with Donna. He especially liked the Sisseton bakery. Above all, Clarence loved spending time with family ~ sitting outside in the lawn chairs, grilling, having bonfires, and playing Old Maid with the grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Donna of Browns Valley; children, Paula (Darrell Dobbs) Pistorius, Todd (Tanya) Pistorius, Jeff (Jill) Pistorius, and Chad (Wendi) Pistorius all of Browns Valley; nine grandchildren, Taryn, Trestin, Tiara, Madisyn, Olivia, Mariah, Carter, Grayson, and Devan; two sisters, LaVonne (George) Rattelmuller of Columbus, MO, and Lynette (Dennis) Greiner of Wilmot; and his best friend Shelby, his German shepherd.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Linda; sister, Grace (Bennie) Greiner; and infant brother, Ronald.
