Charlie Youngberg

Charlie Youngberg, Rosholt, SD, passed away Friday, August 25, 2017, at the age of 73.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 11, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Bethania Lutheran Church in Rosholt with Rev. Nancy Quatier officiating. Music will be provided by organist Lana Sand.

Burial will be in the Walla Lutheran Cemetery, rural New Effington.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 10, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt.

Charles Douglas was born January 4, 1944, to Harold and Effie (Satre) Youngberg in Veblen, SD. Charlie was raised on the farm in New Effington, SD, where he went to school. He transferred to and graduated from Rosholt High School in 1962.

Charlie was united in marriage to Arla Lee on March 23, 1968, at Walla Lutheran Church. With this union, Charlie accepted Arla's three children and raised them as his own. Later, adding one more child making their family complete.

Charlie had many accomplished jobs. He owned Charlie's Plumbing, and Charlie and Arla were the owners/managers of the White Eagle Ballroom in New Effington, SD, Charlie's Bar in Rosholt, and the Super 8 Motel in Madison, SD. Charlie then worked at Dakota Magic Casino in Hankinson, ND, until he retired.

In his free time, Charlie enjoyed playing softball, hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings on TV.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Arla; daughter, Shelly (Marlin) Hofer of Henderson, NV; sons, Rob (Twyla) Eggers of Redfield, SD; Brian Eggers of Wheaton, MN; and Mike Youngberg of Sioux Falls, SD; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Harvey (Kathy) Youngberg of Yankton, SD; and sister, Margaret (Al) Eggers of New Effington, SD.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Effie; and his daughter-in-law, Michele.
