Catherine Christeson

Catherine "Catie" A. Christeson, 103, Graceville, MN, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at the Grace Home in Graceville.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 10, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville with Father Brian Oestreich officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Graceville Consolidated Cemetery.

The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on the Eggers Funeral Home Facebook page. The livestream will begin approximately 10:55 a.m.  There is no link. The video will just appear.

Catherine Appolonia was born November 6, 1917, to Otto and Mary (Hansen) Wettstein in Long Prairie, MN. She was baptized, made her First Communion, and was confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Long Prairie.  She graduated from  Long Prairie High School and then received her two-year RN degree at St. Cloud Nursing School.

On May 5, 1942, Catie married Elmer Christeson at Long Prairie. They farmed near Johnson, MN, and later Graceville. Catie was also employed as a registered nurse at Holy Trinity Hospital in Graceville, retiring in 1997. Catie and Elmer moved into Graceville in 2004. They spent 27 winters in the Orange Grove Park, Edinburg, TX. Forever the nurse, Catie always made sure she took her blood pressure cuff with her so she could help those in need.

Catie served as a 4-H leader and was active in the Homemaker's Club. She also sang in the church choir and taught religion classes at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Collis, MN.  Catie enjoyed gardening, canning, crafting and baking.

Survivors include her children, Paul (Barb) Christeson of Graceville, Ruth Adams of Quincy, MA, and Larry (Diane) Christeson of Graceville; daughter-in-law, JoEllyn Christeson of Graceville; son-in-law, Jerome Hill of Kempner, TX; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Loretta Bruner of Sauk Rapids, MN; a brother, Al (Beverly) Wettstein of Long Prairie; and two sisters-in-law, Libby Christeson of Anderson, SC, and Doris Henry of Bloomington, MN.

Catie was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer on November 10, 2005; son, E. Robert; daughters, Helen Hill and Judy Ogdahl; son-in-law, Dale Ogdahl; grandson, Tom Drewicke; brothers, Gilbert and Raymond; and sisters, Florentine, Remelda, Clara, Cecilia, Marcella, Josephine, and Adeline.
