Caryl R. Townsend, 86, Rosholt, SD, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016, at the Northeast Care and Rehabilitation Cente in Rosholt.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Gunderson East Funeral Home, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, WI, with Father Randy Timmerman officiating.
Burial will be in the Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Madison, WI. Pallbearers will be Ronald Bailey, Matthew Jensen, Joe Jensen, David Mauel, Jeff Mauel and Greg Mauel.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Gunderson East Funeral Home and will continue Saturday one hour prior to the service. The Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt and the Gunderson Funeral Home in Madison are in charge of the arrangements.
Caryl Rosalia was born July 29, 1929, in Madison, WI, to Otto and Olivia (Pulvermacher) Rogge. She was baptized and confirmed at St. James Catholic Church in Madison. She graduated from high school in Madison. After finishing school, Caryl worked at Western Union.
On June 3, 1950, Caryl married Vernon W. Townsend at St. James Catholic Church in Madison. Caryl enjoyed being a homemaker and doing crafting and quilting. Vernon passed away in 2005. Caryl moved to Rosholt, SD, in 2008 to live with her daughter. In March 2011, she made her home in the Countryside Inn and in January 2016 moved to the Northeast Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Caryl enjoyed attending flea markets and craft fairs. She especially loved spending time with family.
Survivors include her daughter, Debra (Myron) Foltz of Rosholt; granddaughter, LeeAnne Foltz; great-grandchildren, Bianca Foltz, Byranna Knutson and Jenna Foltz; great-great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Kye Foltz; and sisters, Arlene Mauel of Verona, WI, and Judy Reis of Madison.
Caryl was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; son, Gary; grandson, Chris Foltz; and sisters, Lucille Bailey and Joan Ream.
