Carol F. Johnson, 87, Wheaton, passed away Monday, November 3, 2025, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo.
Funeral Services will be Monday, November 10, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity-Mt. Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Johnson, MN, officiated by Rev. Michael Neumann. Music will be provided by her daughter, Corinne Muller. The funeral service will be recorded and viewable after the funeral on the Eggers Funeral Home website.
Burial will be in the Trinity-Mt. Olive Cemetery. Pallbearers will be all of Carol's grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt and will continue Monday morning one hour prior to the service at the church in rural Johnson.
Carol Faye was born at home on the farm near Veblen, SD, on December 10, 1937, to Edward and Gina (Simonson) Hanson. She attended country school at McKinley #4 and her 5th grade year transferred to Browns Valley Elementary. She graduated from Sisseton High School in 1956. During high school, Carol worked at the A & C Variety Store and the local café in Sisseton.
On February 13, 1957, Carol was united in marriage to Clayton Arthur Johnson in Wilmot, SD. After their marriage, they made their home on the Johnson family farm in rural Wheaton. Carol was a true farm wife, partnering with Clayton on the dairy farm milking cows, preparing meals, and bookkeeping, all while raising their four daughters. Clayton passed away August 12, 2001.
Carol was very community minded and was active in the MCCL, SWCD Board, National Farmers Organization, and served on the Traverse County Republican Committee.
Carol was a long-time member of Trinity-Mt. Olive Church. She served as the organist and sang in the church choir, played in and directed the Hand Bell Choir, and taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed serving with the Ladies Aid and loved attending Women's Bible Study.
Carol also shared her musical talents by playing bass drum in the Tri-State Band. She taught piano lessons to area youth and played piano with the old-time fiddlers.
Very artistic, Carol enjoyed painting and drawing and belonged to an Art Club. She also enjoyed sewing and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. Above all, Carol loved her family, especially time spent with her daughters, grandchildren, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her children, Belinda Vedder of Hankinson, ND, Colleen (Ken) Fiala of Jackson, MN, Pamela (Gary) Miller of St. Cloud, MN, and Corinne (Loren) Muller of Gackle, ND; grandchildren, Jacob (Lacey) Braun, Jeremiah (Danielle) Braun, Justin (Shannon) Braun, Jennifer Vedder, Jason (Kayla) Vedder, Joseph Vedder, Darcy Fiala, Bridget Oltmans, Amber Johnson, Calvin (Kaylie) Miller, Samuel Miller, Cora Muller, Colter Muller, and Clay Muller; great-grandchildren, Colton, Kolden, Timberlee, Walker, Tatum, Tenley, Everly, Dutton, Lyla, Violet, Braelyn, Olivia, Landen, Emma, Matthew, and Mason.
She is also survived by a sister, Elnora Stewart of Watertown, SD; brothers-in-law, Robert (Marilyn) Johnson of Wheaton, and Rodney (Sharon) Johnson of Wheaton; sisters-in-law, Beverly (Don) Englert of Sparta, WI, and Dorine (Charles) Bissel of Apple Valley, MN.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton; her parents and in-laws; son-in-law, Lowell Vedder; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Ella Hanson, Jesmer Hanson, Robert Siewerdsen, Helen Siewerdsen, Robert Byman, Joseph Gubka, Dick Stewart, Darlene Johnson, Lynn Byman, Merton Johnson and Vera Johnson.
