Bonnie M. Hortness

Bonnie M. Hortness, age 62, of Peever, SD, passed away Monday, September 2, 2019, at home surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the Nelson Community Center in Peever officiated by Rev. Sheila Pohl. Music will be provided by pianist Todd Quatier and vocalist Pat Schubert.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Peever Lutheran Church, and also Saturday one hour prior to the service at the Nelson Community Center.

Bonnie Marie Arbach was born to Robert and Colleen (Barrett) Arbach on May 25, 1957, in Sisseton, SD. She attended school in Sisseton, graduating in 1975. She attended SDSU for two years and then worked in the Director of Equalization office at the Roberts County Courthouse.

On April 21, 1979, Bonnie married Joel Hortness of Peever. The couple had two children, a son Chris (Meggan) and daughter Lindsey.

Bonnie worked as the office manager/Boss for 40 years with her husband at Hortness Implement in Peever. She and Joel were always so thankful for the wonderful people who supported their business throughout the years.

Bonnie enjoyed reading, baking, sewing, playing games with family, and especially spending time with her granddaughters and attending their many activities. She loved having a project for them to do and was very proud of all three.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Joel; son, Chris (Meggan); daughter, Lindsey; granddaughters, Elliot, Everleigh and Harper all of Sisseton; two sisters, Pam (Rick) Martin of Mitchell, SD, and Sandy (Neil) Vig of Peever; two brothers, Robert Arbach Jr. of Wilmot, SD, and Jerry (Becky) Arbach of Sisseton; three sisters-in-law, Mary (Jerry) Fiedler of Brookings, SD, Margie (Mike) Frank of Norfolk, NE, and Eloise Hortness of Webster, SD; along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Colleen; parents-in-law, Harold and Viola Hortness; and a brother-in-law, Harold "Buzz" Hortness.
