Beverley Iverson Emery Zwiebel was born July 21, 1947, to Andrew and Marguerite (Welker) Iverson in Sedro-Woolley, WA. When she was six weeks old, her family moved to the ranch/farm that her grandfather, Henry Scott Welker, homesteaded south of Bridgeport, NE. She graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1965 and Chadron State College in 1971.
Bev started teaching in a one-room school in Morrill County, NE, when she was 19. That seemed like way too much work, so she applied and was hired as a fingerprint specialist by the FBI and sent to Washington, DC. When her mother died, she returned to western Nebraska and finished her education. Bev lived in Bridgeport where she taught at several area schools and for the BIA in Pine Ridge, SD. She later worked for the Department of Defense Dependent School in Panama for four years and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, for 14 years.
During her teaching years in Cuba, a highlight of her life was spending summers with her family at fishing resorts in Minnesota and Missouri. She loved her family, her friends, reading, hiking, and teaching. Her retirement led to substitute teaching in Rosholt, SD, and was a great experience with amazing students, teachers, and administration.
In her marriage to William Emery, they had one son, Matthew. She later married Gerald "Jerry" Zwiebel, and they had one son, Daniel.
She retired with her husband Jerry in 2012 on Lake Traverse in South Dakota. They were members of Bethania Lutheran Church in Rosholt. She had also been an active member of the Eastern Star in Bridgeport.
Bev was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Zwiebel; son, Daniel Zachary Zwiebel; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Jeri and Daniel Reimnitz; father, Andrew Iverson; mother, Marguerite Welker Iverson; sister, Joyce Blakesley; brother, Donald "Scott" Iverson; two infant brothers, Franklin James and John Iverson; and niece, Nicole Stokes.
She is survived by her sister, Charlotte (Ed) Sturgis of Lovell, WY; stepson, Jeffrey Zwiebel of Dallas, TX; son, Matthew (Jennifer) Emery of Los Angeles, CA; and granddaughters, Kylie and Jenna Winters of Omaha, NE.
