Betty Ann Pearson, 81, Rosholt, SD, died Saturday, September 3, 2011, at the Rosholt Care Center, Rosholt.
Funeral services were Tuesday, September 6, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Lutheran Church, rural Rosholt, with Rev. Suzanne Benidt officiating.  Music was provided by organist Lana Sand and vocalist Tim Ostby.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery, rural Rosholt.  Pallbearers were Kirk Akerson, Mitch Ekstrom, Mike Ekstrom, Danny Akerson, Rod Westby, and Byron Akerson.
Visitation was Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt.
Betty Ann Pearson was born September 20, 1929, to Peter and Frances (Bisek) Ostby in Victor Township, Roberts County, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at Brandvold Lutheran Church, rural Victor, SD. She attended country school at Crawford until the eighth grade when she stayed home and helped her mother and father.
Betty was united in marriage to Lloyd A. Pearson on November 26, 1949, at Brandvold Lutheran Church. They raised two children, Mark and Sheila. Betty and Lloyd were lifelong farmers. When Lloyd was in the Army, they lived in Hawaii for one year.
Betty was an active member of St. Joseph Lutheran Church serving on the church board, Sunday school teacher, and many positions with the WELCA. Betty was active in the Rosholt Area Threshermen Association and during the Bee one of her joys was to sit and talk to people in the "Little House." Betty took great pride in cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, canning and growing flowers. Her house was always clean and the coffee pot was always on. She loved to hostess. She had fun with all kinds of animals.
Betty loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, took pride in their activities and accomplishments and enjoyed spending time with them. She taught each of her grandchildren how to play fox and goose! The love of her life, Lloyd, passed away January 3, 2011. A stroke on April 20, 2008, left her paralyzed and she became a resident at the Rosholt Care Center.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her parents, Pete and Fanny Ostby; her sister, Beulah (Willard) Braaten; her brother, Dean Ostby; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernest Pearson, Ray and Violet Tessmer, Robert and Hazle Akerson, and Gordon and Elaine Pearson.
Betty is survived by her son, Mark (Mary) Pearson of Rosholt; her daughter, Sheila (Dave) Pohl of Wheaton, MN; sisters, Bonnie (Darrel) Ekstrom of Two Harbors, MN, and Faye (Byron) Akerson of Rosholt; sisters-in-law, Carmen Ostby of Wheaton, MN, and Ada Pearson of Rosholt; grandchildren, Jennifer (Cody) Malloy, Jason Pearson, Melanie Pohl and fiancé Nick DeSplinter, Brittany Pearson, and Grant Pearson; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Collin Malloy.
