Benedict "Ben" Wohlers

Benedict G. "Ben" Wohlers, 72, Graceville, MN, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013, at Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall, MN.
Funeral mass was Thursday, August 29, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville, MN, with Father David Breu officiating. Music was provided by organist Donna Arens and vocalists Doris Taffe, Jean Rixe, Butch Doll, and Amber Klimek.
Burial was in the Graceville Consolidated Cemetery, Graceville, MN. Honorary pallbearers were Maurie Wohlers, Jim Wohlers, Marlus Wohlers, Earl Rahn, Art Lopez, Harold Hanson, Don Carrington, Troy Carrington, Don Geiszler, and Roger Duncan. Active pallbearers were Ryan Wohlers, Jared Wohlers, Madison Lewis, Jon Sieve, Michael Lewis, and Bob Nelson.
Visitation was Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville. Visitation continued Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Benedict Gregory was born on October 20, 1940, in Graceville, MN, to Maurus and Rose (Heck) Wohlers. He attended country school in rural Graceville and then high school in Graceville, graduating in 1958. Following graduation, Ben served in the Army National Guard.
On April 29, 1961, Ben married Susan Anderson in Barry, MN. They spent many years on the farm in Graceville, retiring from farming in 2005. In the later years they wintered in Texas.
Ben served on the board of the Federal Land Bank for over 25 years, which gave them an opportunity to travel. In addition, he was on the Soil Conservation Board. Ben also played guitar, took flying lessons, enjoyed golfing and horse racing.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Wohlers of Graceville, MN; children, Greg (Sara) Wohlers of Montevideo, MN, Jeff (Pam) Wohlers of Warren, MN, Nancy (Jon) Sieve of Alexandria, MN, Brenda (Bob) Nelson of Phoenix, AZ, and Kimberly (Michael) Lewis of Ellsworth, MN; grandchildren, Ryan, Andrew, Danielle, Whitney, Jared, stepson Jordan, Amber, Nicole, Sydney, Brandon, Aleshia, stepson Robert, stepdaughter Brittany, Madison, Bailey, Peyton, and Aurora; brothers, Maurus (Carol) Wohlers, and James Wohlers; sisters, Betty Lou (Bob) Siefert, MaryAnn (Paul) Kellen, Irene (Dick) Herrig, Theresa Baroh, Catherine (Wayne) Huseby, Rita (Joe) Nayquonabe, Janet (Sid) Vogelbacher, and Pamela (Jim) Stotesbery; and sister-in-law, Judy Wohlers.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Maurus and Rose Wohlers; brother, Daniel Wohlers; infant brother, John Thomas Wohlers; brother-in-law, David Baroh; and sister-in-law, Charlotte "Mike" Wohlers.
