Barbara Khoury

Barbara Louise (Boots) Khoury, 66, Duluth, MN, formerly of Beardsley, MN, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022, at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 25, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. at Holden Lutheran Church in rural Beardsley.

Burial will be in the Holden Lutheran Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Brian and Dale Wentland, T.J. Rabe, Dylan VonEschen, Harley Zacher and Adam McMahon.

Barbara Louise was born March 9, 1956, in Appleton, Minnesota, and was the identical twin daughter of Rex and Theda (Dorenbusch) Boots.  She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church of Odessa, MN, and affirmed her baptism at Holden Lutheran Church of rural Beardsley.  She graduated with honors from Beardsley High School and later earned a degree in business at Metropolitan State University.  She married Paul Khoury on February 26, 2005.

Barb had a strong love for Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.  She taught Sunday school for many years and was also very active in Child Evangelism Fellowship (an after-school program for elementary school children).  She was also a leader of many bible studies and was involved, with her husband, in outreaches of the Christian Motorcyclists Association.

Barb had many talents, including a love for music.  She played the tuba since grade school and belonged to her church orchestra, for which she also served as director for many years.  She loved to garden and enjoyed upholstery and seamstress work.

Barb spent much of her free time expressing her love for children and the elderly.  One way she did this was as a clown who made animal balloons and performed in parades.  She also did face painting at carnivals and in nursing homes.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband, Paul of Duluth; mother, Theda Skundberg of Ortonville, MN; sisters:  Margaret (Cliff) Steinlicht of Milbank, SD, Anita Cox of Sioux Falls, SD, and twin sister Debbie (Gary) Wentland of Clinton, MN; brothers: John (Betty) Boots of Odessa, Frank (Pam) Boots of Ortonville and Gary (Christi) Boots of Maple Grove, MN; sister-in-law, Julie Boots of Savage, MN; father and mother-in-law, Dwight and Diane Khoury of Duluth; and brother-in-law, Samuel Khoury of Duluth.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Rex Boots; brother, Donald Boots; and stepfather, Russell Skundberg.
