Ardyce Mckee

Ardyce McKee, 93, Rosholt, SD, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012, at the Rosholt Care Center.
Funeral services were Wednesday, October 10, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethania Lutheran Church in Rosholt with Rev. Nancy Quatier officiating. Music was provided by organist Ruby Larsen.
Burial was in the Trondhjem Cemetery, rural Rosholt. Honorary pallbearers were the Rosholt Care Center staff. Active pallbearers were Russ McKee, Jim McKee, Tom Wagner, Jeff Wagner, Mike Wagner, Jill Wika, Shon McKee, Staci McKee, and Robin Hartle.
Visitation was Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt. Visitation continued Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ardyce Evelyn (Miller) McKee was born July 1, 1919, in Browns Valley, MN. She was one of ten children born to Harry and Clara (Hansen) Miller. She was baptized and confirmed at Trondhjem Lutheran Church, rural Rosholt and was a lifetime member of Trondhjem. Ardyce attended country school through the eighth grade. She was raised on the Hansen homestead near Dry Run south of Victor, SD.
After leaving the farm, Ardyce moved to Browns Valley. There she met and married Wallace McKee on July 1, 1938. To this union three children were born, Harriet, James, and Russell. Ardyce owned and operated the café in New Effington, SD, in the late 1950s.
Ardyce was a 44-year member of the American Legion Post #180 Auxiliary in New Effington. She was noted for her donuts, was a great cook, and enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting, cards, board games and collecting angels. Wally and Ardyce celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary on July 1, 2012. For the past three and a half years, she resided at the Rosholt Care Center.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Wallace of Rosholt; daughter, Harriet (Tom) Wagner of Rosholt; sons, James (Donna) McKee of Watertown, SD, and Russell (Sharon) McKee of Claire City, SD; six grandchildren, Jeff (Val) Wagner of Mondovi, WI, Jill (Scott) Wika of Aberdeen, SD, Mike (Coleen) Wagner of Rapid City, SD, Robin (Jim) Hartle of Columbia, SC, Shon McKee of Las Vegas, NV, and Staci McKee of Washington, D.C., nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Leverson of New Effington, Joyce Kaufman of Breckenridge, MN, Ramona Schuller of St. Maries, ID, and Marion Saide of Hayward, CA; and a brother, Dean (Dot) Miller of Beardsley, MN.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Helen; and three brothers, Willis, Eli and Marvin.
