Ardamae Wegener Loberg was born to Harry and Hazel (Skjelstad) Wegener on their wedding anniversary, August 21, 1929, in Langford, SD. She was the oldest child – joined by brother Jerry in 1936 and sister Catherine (who died in infancy) in 1943.  She grew up in the Claire City area. She graduated from New Effington High School.  After a working trip to California, she attended Northern State Teachers College and taught eight grades in a rural school.

On August 21, 1950, Ardamae was united in marriage to Bennel Loberg in Watertown, SD. They made their home on the farm at New Effington – first with his parents, Nels and Sadie, before moving to their own farmstead less than a mile away. Ardamae became involved in every aspect of farm life and was as comfortable on a tractor in the field as she was baking in her kitchen or sewing a new dress. She was creative, generous and kind – and her passion was her children: Belinda, Nicarnia, and Cynthia – and ultimately her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

After Bennel died of cancer on September 23, 2001, Ardamae continued to live in their farm home until 2015 when she moved into New Effington. As dementia began to take its toll, she moved to Edgewood Assisted Living in Sisseton, where she resided until suffering a broken hip and was moved to Tekakwitha Living Center in 2018. The family appreciates all the care provided by both Edgewood Assisted Living and Tekakwitha Living Center.

Survivors include her daughter, Belinda (Paul) Engelhart; son-in-law, Ron Evenson; daughter-in-law, Linda Loberg (Irv Slaamot); grandchildren, Quentin and Jason Engelhart, Scott Schram, Matthew (Jennifer) Evenson, Jessica (Scott) Althaus, Benjamin (Jessica) Evenson, Jacob (Krystle) Loberg, Kristina (Seth) Tackett, and Melissa (Tyler) Medenwald; great-grandchildren, Lee Engelhart, Sabrina Schram (Chad Graham) and Tessa Schram, Lily and Sadie Evenson, Jack and Elle Althaus, James and Maddie Evenson, Bennel, Braelynn and Boe Loberg, Sloan and Mesa Tackett, and Axel and Mali Medenwald; nieces Marcia (Dick) Beezley, Carolyn Schlener, Sara (Tom) May, Mary Drake, and Dara Wegener Volker; and childhood forever friend, Joan Skog.
