Antonia B. "Tony" Skog, 104, New Effington, SD, died Thursday, June 20, 2013, at the Rosholt Care Center.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 25, at 11:00 a.m. at Walla Lutheran Church, rural New Effington with Rev. Suzanne Benidt officiating. Music was provided by pianist Austin Eggers.
Burial was in the Walla Cemetery, rural New Effington. Honorary pallbearers were the caregivers at the Rosholt Care Center. Active pallbearers were Michael Riveland, Justin Riveland, Lynn Riveland, Rod Larsen, David Skog, and Dale Learned.
Visitation was Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt.
Tony was born December 4, 1908, in Lowry, MN, to Joseph and Antonia (Kalina) Bisek. She was raised in Lien Township, SD, where she attended rural school.
On November 24, 1928, Tony married Carl Skog. They began their life together on the Skog farm which was homesteaded by Carl's father, Olaf. Tony was a typical, hardworking farm wife who spent her days working in the fields, milking cows, and raising turkeys, chickens, and ducks. Carl passed away on July 15, 1983. In 2008, Tony entered the Rosholt Care Center where she later celebrated her 100th birthday.
Tony belonged to Walla WELCA, and the senior citizens center in New Effington, where she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and embroidery. She also loved animals, especially dogs, and spending time with her friends and family.
Survivors include her daughter, Lucille Larsen, of Rosholt; daughter-in-law, Joan Skog of New Effington; 3 grandchildren, Debbie (Lynn) Riveland of Breckenridge, MN, Rod Larsen of Golden, CO, and David (Lisa) Skog of New Effington; 6 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; 4 step great-great grandchildren; and 1 step great-great-great granddaughter.
Tony was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; son, Dwayne; grandsons, Nathan Larsen and Joey Riveland; sons-in-law, Morris Larsen and George Larsen; 2 brothers, and 4 sisters.
