Andy Schiltz was born August 12, 1957 at Hankinson, ND to Gordon and Teresa (Bernard) Schiltz.  Andy spent the first three years of his life on a farm south of New Effington, SD and then they moved to the Schiltz family farm north of Rosholt.  Andy was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith.  He attended school in Rosholt where he graduated in 1975.  On September 17, 1977 Andy married Barbara Leverson.  To this marriage three children were born, Jacalyn, James and Steven.  Andy and Barb lived and farmed north of Rosholt until 2018 when Andy was forced to retire due to dementia.  Andy and Barb moved to Fargo in May of 2021.

Andy loved to go fishing, camping, and loved the beaches of Florida.  He also loved spending time at their lake place near Elbow Lake, MN.  His favorite thing was having the family all together and spending time with his grandchildren! Andy was extremely talented and could build, fix, do plumbing, electrical, etc., which earned him the name Handy Andy!  He loved to cook for people and loved to entertain in their home. Another thing that Andy enjoyed was the many mission trips that they took with their church to Mexico and Canada.

In 1987 Andy and Barb found the Lord together and joined Sisseton Assembly of God Church and then Christian Outreach Center in Sisseton, where they attended until their move to Fargo.  In Fargo they were blessed to find Harvest Valley Church which was just starting in Horace, ND.  Andy faithfully served God for all those years.

Andy was a member of the Consumer's Coop Board and served as a Board member at both the Assembly of God Church and at Christian Outreach Center.  He also served on the Roberts County Weed Board.  At Harvest Valley he loved helping with set up and tear down and drinking coffee with the men in the morning.  There was no job that Andy wasn't willing to tackle, and he would do anything for anyone because of his big heart.

Grateful to have shared his life are his wife, Barb of Fargo; children, Jacalyn (Aaron) Benson and James (Angela) Schiltz of Fargo and Steven (Tricia) Schiltz of Rosholt. His grandchildren, Caedmon Benson, Julia, Ava, Amelia and Asher Schiltz of Fargo and Elliot, Madeline and Colton Schiltz of Rosholt.  He is also survived by his mother, Teresa Schiltz of Rosholt; sisters, Pam Eggen, Janelle (Don) Lewis, Mary (Dan) Walter, Brenda (Dennis) Foster, Peggy Lillie, Beth (Bill) Wills, and Lisa (Bill) Torvik, as well as brothers, Greg (Jennifer) Schiltz and Leslie (Linda) Schiltz; aunts, Esther Bernard and Julia Klosterman; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Andy was preceded in death by his father, Gordon; a sister, Adeline; parents-in-law, Lawrence and Helen Leverson; his grandparents, Nick and Christine Schiltz and Adolf and Caroline Bernard; and brothers-in-law, Dale Eggen, Gene Lewis, and Rodney Lillie.
