Amer F. Holman, 83, Appleton, MN, died Thursday, November 1, 2012, at the Appleton Hospital.
Funeral services were Wednesday, November 7, at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton with Rev. Tim Renstrom officiating.  Music was provided by organist Heidi Tosel.
A private family burial was at the Odessa cemetery in Odessa, MN. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church.
Amer Fred Holman was born to parents Mark and Amanda (Steen) Holman August 15, 1929, at Odessa, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Amer was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton, serving as president, vice president, elder and financial secretary of the voting body. He also served as commander of the American Legion. He received his degree in Mortuary Science from the University of Minnesota. He was in the Signal Corp of the U.S. Army for two years and served as a Cryptographic Specialist at the Staff and Command College at Fort Leavenworth, KS, for eighteen months.
Forty-nine years were spent as a traveling salesman covering Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana and Canada selling carpet, and he owned and operated a funeral home and furniture and carpet store.
Amer was married to Mabel Pansch at Odessa, and before coming to Appleton, they made their home in Minneapolis, Spring Valley, and Willmar, MN; Augusta, GA; Neosho, MO; and Leavenworth, KS.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel; daughters, Darcy (Duane) Kleven, and Kristi (Randy) Bruer; son, Jason Holman; grandchildren, Nicholas Kleven, Marisa (Nate) Ludvigson, Zachary and McKenzie Bruer, and Lexi Holman; great-grandchildren, Marley and Logan Ludvigson; brother, Harold (Vonnie) Holman; and sister, Gloria Sorenson.
